Annual meeting of The Pact for Legal Timber
The Forest Governance Positioning in Colombia -PPGFC attended the Annual Meeting of the Pact for Legal Timber in Colombia – PIMLC. The event was organized by the Technical Secretariat of the Pact, carried out by Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development and the ONF Andean, with the support of the environmental authority -CARDER, WWF Colombia and the National Timber Industry Federation (Fedemaderas).
At the Alianza Colombo Francesa was held the meeting that took place on Friday, December 5th. The main objective was to review, analyze and jointly construct the guidelines for the future of the Pact besides, to introduce new accessions, provide figures imperative tools for legality and forest governance and, adjust the components of the Pact.
During the day, Corporación Aldea Global and the National Open and Distance University – UNAD (for its initials in Spanish) joined the pact. Also, at the academic space, the technical director of the PPGFC, Dario Moreno Orjuela, participated with a talk: "Exploratory study of the value of timber". After the meeting, attendees once again, reaffirmed its commitment to the Pact in order to continue joining forces and actions that promote legality in the use of wood in our country.
The Pact for Legal Timber in Colombia aims to ensure that timber harvested, transported, processed, commercialized and used comes only from legal sources. This voluntary Pact contributes to the implementation of the national environmental policy, sustainable development and the improvement in the Forest Governance.
The Forest Governance Positioning Project is funded by the European Union and led by CARDER, in association with Corantioquia, Corpocaldas, CRC, Codechocó, Corponariño, Corponor, CRQ, Cortolima, Corpourabá, CVC, Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, Asocars and Aldea Global.
